Promising initial look at Google's new generative search experience

Promising initial look at Google's new generative search experience
A few months ago, we were discussing concerns that the new Google might decrease organic visibility. However, initial reviews appear to show a range of opportunties for companies to showcase themselves organically.

The image above from Search Engine Land shows 6 - 7 organic "places" that could replace the traditional Knowledge Graph. Of course, this is still experimental and could change. But what it means is that organic SEO traffic is still looking to be an extremely important and viable digital channel.
Chat GPT launching with a slew of new features
Take note of the Open AI dev day where a slew of new features were announced including, wait for it, the ability to build your own GPTS! Other new features include:
- Launch of a new Chat GPT - GPT4 Turbo - Faster, better, more "intelligent"
- Chat GPT with voice capabilities - Try playing with the GPT app on your phone, I'm finding it much more useful that Google or Alexa.
- Chat GPT combined with Dall E 3 to create images - The ability to create images directly in Chat GPT
Here are a couple good YouTube summaries of the event here and a longer version here. And of course you can get their release notes as well. AI functionality is rapidly increasing and my advice would be to at least keep an eye on it and give one or two things a go to avoid being left behind.
Kim's thoughts: Aside from these new features, you've likely also heard about the GOT esque firing and rehiring of Sam Altman over the weekend. This was apparently linked to disagreements about the release of the Build your own GPT functionality and whether that was a safe thing to do.
To many, this represented the battle between the push for profitability and the concern about ensuring that we're developing AI in a safe and ethical manner.
We don't know what's right at the moment and I think that's why Altman was fired so dramatically. It'll be an interesting space we should watch closely as the tech giants and associating technology continues to develop at a rapid pace.
I find myself trying to keep up by analysing the overall trend, to understand what's happening at a macro level. But I need help. So if you're ever wondering about where it's all going, I'd be happy to grab a coffee and discuss.
